The guy with one house really cares about losing a house, because he is homeless. The other guy can lose five houses and still got a bunch of houses. Does this make any sense? Am I the only one that sees this?...I'm just saying, John McCain could lose half his houses…And sleep well."

Projection & Theft, exposing the true Elitist

An Elitist is one who is convinced of their inherent superiority over ‘We the People’, they demand preferential treatment, and bask in the material excesses of their wealth.

In “Projection”, Elitists gather together all their most despicable ideologies, their most hypocritical practices, and then along with their pure contempt for the American Working Class they ‘project’ their vile traits upon their opponents. Like lifting a rusty can full of rancid garbage over his head, John McCain pours the most objectionable parts of himself over Obama and hopes it will stick. Simultaneously, McCain, like a thief in the night, tries to steal all that’s desirable in Obama and wraps himself up in it like a warm fuzzy blanket. McCain deceitfully pretends to have Obama’s working class roots, Obama’s support for the poor & middle class, and Obama’s vision for Change. When McCain takes what is Obama’s, it’s called “Theft”.

Only an Elitist could be found riding around in a golf cart, sporting a $520 pair of imported shoes, as John McCain was. Elitists, like John McCain, are often seen soaring across the skies in their wife’s privet jets, riding high in the clouds and sipping Champaign while we ‘commoners’ are stuck sucking SUV smog in bumper to bumper traffic; typically in the one and only car we own. The Elitist John McCain owns 13 automobiles.

Only an Elitist, with the bogus gall of selective memory, could possible forget how many houses he owns. The fact of the matter is, John McCain owns anywhere from 7 to 12 homes, the exact number leaves him scratching his head in confusion but, if you were ever to ponder just how much money he wasted last year on butlers, cooks, and maids at those all those homes… you’d find he laid out a whopping $240,000 without batting his Elite eyes. The Elitist John McCain squandered more on custodial service at his 7 to 12 homes than the average American spent buying their one and only home.

All these facts leads to a puzzling question, just how does the True Elitist John McCain label Barack Obama, the black guy from a broken family, raised on food stamps, as the Elitist? How does Obama, who owns one car, one home, and no jet become the Elitist... how?

It’s called “Projection & Theft”.

Bush used this “Projection & Theft” in 2004 when he stole John Kerry’s war hero status and projected his own highly tarnished and lackluster military service back upon Kerry. In doing so, Bush was able to turn a highly decorated Combat Veteran with a Bronze Star and three Purple Hearts into a pinko-commie while transforming himself into a glorious War Hero who “flew jets in the Guard”. It was vainful and contemptible, but affective and it help deliver the 2004 election to Bush.

Of course Bush wasn’t alone then and McCain could not accomplish this on his own now. They both receive help from other Elite multimillionaires with names like Limbaugh, Hannity, and O’Reily… McCain’s fellow Elitists who portray themselves as the “guy you could have a beer with”. McCain receives critically important assistance from Rupert Murdock’s Foxnews, Murdock’s NY Post, and along with Right-Wing Talk Radio, Sinclair Broadcasting, and the utter bile from sites such as the Drudge Report, they combine to ridicule Obama and condemn Obama for McCain’s filth.

But the most maddening aspect of this, the part that really brings up that puke taste in our mouths, is that they know exactly what they are doing. We can see this clearly as McCain blinks feverishly when he speaks… a true ‘tell’ that he is lying. They know McCain is the true Elitist, they know he is “Projecting & Thieving” but they turn a blind eye in order to protect their Neo Con friends and Elitists colleagues from the Change that Obama promises…. A return to the America of the Middle Class.

The only method to combat this “Projection & Theft” is to categorically stand up and confront it. To hammer back at anyone who throws the word “Elitist” at Obama with examples of McCain’s excesses and Obama’s humble roots, to confront the multimillionaires of the Corporate Media with facts and statistics, and to call what’s happening for what it is… “Projection & Theft”.

Hackers break into Sarah Palin's email

9-18-2008

Firstly, we at the Manual for Democracy totally and completely condemn this action. Every American Citizen deserves basic privacy and this action violates those rights.

However, it is rather interesting to hear the same Republican's who condone spying without warrants and who repeatedly said "you shouldn't care if they listen to your phone calls or read your emails, if have nothing to hide".. it's strikingly compelling to hear them crying about someone reading their emails.

It seems oddly hypocritical that it's okay for them to read our emails but if we even glance at theirs... it's a national crisis.

Also, why is it necessary for Sarah Palin to conduct official business from a privet email account, what was she hiding?

Gawker.com broke the story and has screen shots

Dems cave on drilling off shore (sort of)

9-17-2008

Last night the Democrats caved in on the "drill baby drill" mantra of the GOP and voted to allow the oil companies to drill off shore... sort of.

What the Dems actually did was apply some very cleaver strategy back against the Pro-Oil-Company Republicans, turned the tables on them, and got more for the us than anyone could have imagined.

First the facts, did you ever notice that the Republicans never, ever, tell you how much savings 'We the People' can expect from drilling off shore? They scream that "America needs relief" ... well, we all agree on that one. The scream "we can get billions of barrels of oil off our own shore"... well, that's true but, they leave out an extraordinarily important fact... "We the People' will only save 3 cents a gallon; that's right, just 3 cents.

Startling... but it's true. Every single estimate shows that American's will save 3 cents a gallon in 10 years and up to 7 cents a gallon in 20 years. Remember back when Glenn Beck mocked those that said "but you won't see any savings for 10 years"... he spit back his retort by screeching I want to drill now because "I plan on being here in 10 years" but he never did tell you what the savings would be, did he? Bush, McCain, Paline, Limbaugh, none of them ever told you, do they?

3 cents a gallon.

The news media has been equally to blame for not telling the American public these facts. The national polls only ask Americans if they are in favor or not in favor of drilling off shore, omitting the fact that Exxon Mobile will make billions of dollars in profit and 'We the People' will save just 3 cents a gallon.

So, last night the Democrats gave something to the oil companies, they allowed them to drill off shore... 50 miles or more off shore and only if the State on the Coastline agrees. 50 miles away where an oil spill would not damage our shore lines and there is little to no oil. The oil companies are not going to bother drilling there, so they get nothing.

So, what do we get? The legislation includes the following three points according to CBS News:

1. Provide tax credits for wind and solar energy industries, the development of cellulose ethanol and other bio fuels.

2. Require utilities nationwide to generate 15 percent of their electricity from solar, wind or other alternative energy source.

3. Give tax breaks for new energy efficiency programs, including the use of improved building codes and for companies that promote their employees' use of bicycles for commuting.

The news media will leave out all the details and just say, we're going to "drill baby drill", and since it's a popular idea right now (again because Americans aren't told what the miniscule savings will be) it takes this 'off shore drilling' argument off the table for the Republicans.

The Democrats are learning to play the game, just like the Republicans however; instead of playing the game to benefit the Oil Industry, the Democrats are playing the game to benefit 'We the People', the Environment, and to actually get us off foreign oil by funding renewable energy resources.. very well played.

McCain has a 10 point lead over Obama

9-8-2008

Folks, this is not panic time, everyone needs to 'chill-out' and just take a breath.

John McCain is enjoying a rather large bump after the convention, which is normal, and Sarah Palin has energized the conservative base, which was inevitable.

The Gallup poll surveyed 23% Democrats and 36% Republicans which is also adding to this 10 point lead, trust me, it will not last. Also, according to several commentators, Sarah Palin was actually for that "Bridge to Nowhere" and she's taken ear mark money, even though she said in her speech that she didn't. She's also anti-choice, pro drilling, pro big oil, and pro Abstinence Only education.

Give it another week, two weeks at most and once Gallup balances there polling a bit, the convention bounce subsides, and we learn more about Sarah Palin, Obama will be back to a 3 to 5 point lead in the polls.

Obama won't see any more than a 5 point lead because the pollsters will speak to 33% Democrat, 33% Republicans, and 33% Independent/undecided and that won't reflect all the newly registered voters, which are overwhelmingly on Obama's side. He'll have a 5 point lead if provided Barack Obama can avoid playing nice.

Yes, he has to avoid taking the high road when John McCain and Sarah Paline are ripping him apart with half truths and outright lies. Obama cannot ignore the attacks and take the high road. While that may be the noble thing to do, and the 'right' thing to do, it will cost him the election; just as doing the 'right' thing hurt Gore in 2000 and Kerry in 2004... Obama needs to fight back.

If he does that, I see 5 states going to the Democrats that we didn't win in 2004... Iowa, Nevada, New Mexico, Virginia, & Ohio, that is more than enough Electoral Votes to win. Florida is also as a very possible win as well; which would mean a landslide victory. I also see Texas, North & South Dakota, and Indiana, being extremely close battles.

It's also very possible that we'll see an additional 5 seats in the Senate for the Democrats without a single loss, that will net a 12 seat advantage or a 10 seat advantage if we say goodbye and good riddance to Joe Lieberman. We'll also see a 10 to 15 seat gain in the House as well.

Don't panic about McCain's current 10 point lead... it will not last for long.

U.S. Offers $1 Billion In Aid To Georgia

CBS News: U.S. Offers $1 Billion In Aid To Georgia

9-3-2008

Why is it that the Republican’s have no problem offering 1 billion dollars in aid to help the people of the ‘Georgia’ that’s on Russia’s border but won’t allow 1 million dollars in aid to help poor people of the ‘Georgia’ that’s right here in the USA?

An open letter to Glen Beck

8-8-2008

In response to your article where you mocked Barack Obama's energy saving plan, I'd like to point out a few facts to you.

Glen, you know that inflating your tires was only 1 out of 6 points Obama made; it is also supported by NASCAR and the United States highway safety commission.

You also know the fact that the US has only 8% of the world’s oils supply but uses 26% and that according to Bush Administration documents, it will take 5 years of drilling offshore before any oil is found and the savings in 10 years will be 3 cents per gallon. In 20 years Americans will save 7 cents per gallon.

Intentionally, you do not mention those facts we you talk about drilling offshore.

You are a shill and a supporter of the Oil Industry who will make 12 billion dollars if they drill offshore but ‘We the People’ will only save 7 cents a gallon in 20 years.

You’re not stupid Glen, you know these facts, why don’t you state them so your audience can hear, not only a sliver of the truth, but the whole truth and nothing but the truth?

Obama in the Pocket

6-2-2008
Obama is in the pocket of 'We the People' because that's where he's getting his money from. The identical logic that says some Congressmen is in the pocket of Big Oil or the Pharmaceutical Industry because they contribute to his campaign cannot be ignored in Obama's case.

The overwhelming vast majority of his money comes from individual donors, from We the People, not 'They the Corporation', and if he's in our pockets, he is for us.

Reid and Pelosi are "highjacking" the Primary?

5-30-2008
There has been a tremendous amount of statements in the blogs and from Clinton supporters that Harry Reid and Nancy Pelois are trying to highjack the Primary away from Hillary Clinton.

I have to ask, exaclty w hat is being "hijacked"? They are just asking the super delegates to make a choice after the last contest this Tuesday.

They are not telling any of the super delegates to choose Obama or to choose Clinton, just to make a choice.

Many are just speaking in 3 second talking points... I've asked them to please explain to me why it's wrong to have everyone vote, including the super delegates, after the last contest this Tuesday.

I understand the Clinton supporter's viewpoints however; no one took away the voice of the people in Florida and Michigan. Both states held their primaries too early, which was against party rules, and they were stripped of their delegates before the primaries were held.

Hillary Clinton agreed that the votes in Florida and Michigan would not count before the primaries were held, before anyone voted she said the votes should not count.

There was wide spread news coverage about this before the primaries were held, both nationally and locally in Florida and Michigan. When people went to vote, they knew it was a symbolic vote, they knew their delegates would not be seated.

If any Clinton support just steps back, places partisanship aside for a moment, and looks objectively at the situation, they would agree that if Clinton had lost Florida to Obama, and if Clinton"s name wasn't even on the ballot in Michigan, and Obama claimed victory there, her position would be "those were the rules before the contest was held, we all agreed to it!"

With all respect to my Senator, Hillary Clinton, I cannot be blindly loyal, loyal yes and she'll have my support for Senator next time around but, if the majority of Delegates move toward Obama next week he"ll have won more states, more contests, more Delegates, and yes more votes, at that point Senator Clinton needs to step aside and allow Obama to be the next President.

The Word Liberal

5-20-2008
The word “Liberal” comes from Liberty, as in “give me Liberty or give me death”, as in the Liberty Bell and the Statue of Liberty, as in Sam Adams’ and John Hancock’s Son’s of Liberty, as in the Liberties our Founding Fathers fought for, as in the Liberties they died for and when these gutless haters of Liberty spit in the faces of true patriots by bastardizing the word Liberal and condemning anyone who stands up for our Liberties… they need to be challenged and their wretched arguments need to be dissected and scattered like chum.

McCain Tax cuts?

4-20-2008
How can McCain suggest we have more tax cuts in the middle of two wars and with one of the largest deficits in history?

McCain wants to cut the gas taxes (which will add to the deficit) but, he won"t take back the tax credits given to the oil industry so Exxon Mobile can maintain their record profits. Why roll back the tax breaks given to them.

McCain supports keeping the Bush tax cuts, Both Obama and Clinton want to roll back the tax breaks for those making over, over, those making over $250,000 a year but, McCain says "the Democrats are going to raise your taxes" McCain is not being truthful.

4-17-08 Reuters:
2nd Massive Suicide Bombing in 3 days kills another 50 People in Iraq
"Nobody is above the law”

4-15-2008
Barack Obama said today that "nobody is above the law” when asked about possible investigations into the Bush Administration's many scandals. Obama also stated he would call for an “immediately review the information that's already there”

Many people are frustrated but they’re forgetting the Republican Congress refused to investigate or oversee anything the Bush Administration did for 6 years. The Democratic Congress (January 2007) has held hearings since April of 07 and when the Bush administration officials refused to testify, Congress issued subpoenas but, and this is where the problem is, Bush’s new Attorney General refused to prosecute and stated they didn’t have to testify.

At this time the Bush Administration (the Executive Branch) has control over the Justice Department and which cases it will and will not pursue, the Executive branch also oversees the FBI, the CIA, the NSA, and the Military… you can’t hold anyone accountable if the Executive Branch is blocking every investigation.

It has taken months upon months to pull evidence together, Senator Webb is just about to start the War Profiteering hearings, it takes time to get started because of the 6 years of no investigations at all; and when Speaker Pelosi took “impeachment off the table”, for a variety of reasons, not the least of which was the appearance of a coup, that eliminated that option.

Obama said his Attorney General will not ignore or refuse to pursue, they won’t go on a witch hunt but, they will hold these guys accountable.

Abolish the Super Delegates and Caucuses?

4-8-2008
Abolish the Super Delegates, yes. But, why eliminate the Caucuses, just because Hillary Clinton doesn"t like them? Of course she"d be praising the Caucus process if she had won the majority of them.

The Caucuses would be very undemocratic if this was Communist China or Putin"s Russia. People would not be able to publically show support for the opposition candidate without the threat of reprisals; there they need a privet ballot. However, this is still the US and the vote cannot be stolen when everyone makes it publically clear who they are supporting; no hanging chads, no voter suppression, no Diebold electronic voting machines owned by Bush Supports (the President of Diebold publically supported George Bush).

Caucuses are traditional, heck our Founding Father"s used them. If a State chooses to allow Caucuses or a combination of Caucus and a Primary, then that is their choice.

What should not be allowed is switching your political party just to disrupt the opposition"s election. This "Operation Chaos" garbage is not a political dirty trick, it is unlawful. Party affliction should be a minimum two year commitment. If you change it today for the 2008 election cycle, then you can not change it back until AFTER the 2010 election cycle.

4000 US Troops Killed in Iraq...
Foxnews largely ignores the grim milestone

3-24-08
While, ABC news, MSNBC, CBS news, AP, Reuters, & CNN all are running the headline lead story “4,000 US Troops killed in Iraq”, which is the largest and most prominent article on their websites, as of 10:30AM EST the official news network of the Republican Party is running 4 headlines “Crackdown in Tibet”, “Clinton: 'Emergency Team’”, “New Pakistan PM Frees Judges”, and “Peterson Prepping for the Pokey”.

Further down the Foxnews.com page, amongst 16 other stories, in non-bold, is the line “Bomb Kills 4 U.S. Soldiers in Baghdad; Green Zone Hit” which resulted in the 4,000th death but of course you’ll have to read the non-bold story to know that. The bold stories are “Skeleton Found in Suitcase During Search for N.J. Mom” , “21-Year-Old Message in Bottle Travels 1,735 Miles”, “Dog of Buddhist Priest Prays at Zen Temple” & Georgia Hiker Fought Hard Against Convicted Killer.

Open letter to Ambassador Joe Wilson

3-21-2008
In response to Ambassador Wilson opt ed entitled "Obama's Shallow Credentials on National Security Are Dangerous for the Country", if experience alone was the only mitigating factor then ask yourself this, who has been answering the phone at 3AM for the past 7 plus years? It"s George W Bush, he has the experience that maters most, at least according to your logic, so he should be President for life, right?

Of course if that pesky Constitutional Amendment gets in the way, you could always endorse Dick Cheney . Seriously, which one of the current candidates has more experience actually running things from behind the scenes then Dick Cheney?

Or if the experience of being a First Lady is far more important then who has the most recent experience... I guess your next endorsement will be for Laura Bush?

Seriously though, please stop playing he "fear card", that's how Bush stayed in power even after destroying your wife's career, destroying your repetition and all the good you did during the Gulf War, destroyed the Brewster Jennings operation, and you know how many agents working with us had bullets in the heads after that one leaked. Stop with the "be afraid, be very afraid" garbage and just debate on the issues already.

FISA and Domestic Spying

3-12-208
Contrary to Repubiclan rederic... no Democrat is against FISA, they are against retroactive immunity for the telecom companies and Ms. Feinstein's did not establish a "secret court" as some see to be claiming.

The FISA court has existed, and it is public knowledge so it"s not all that "secret", since long before Diane was in Congress. The "secret" part of the court is that the judges all have the highest level security clearance to see top secret information; the court itself is not a "secret court". They review the request to spy on someone and then issue a warrant. That warrant can be legally issued 3 days after surveillance has already begun; it has always been that way so intelligence agencies could act quickly.

The FISA court is needed to insure a President isn"t spying on political enemies, such as what happened with Richard Nixon, which is the main reason the FISA court was created. The Bush administration did not want the FISA court to know who they were spying on or to rule on whether or not their spying was necessary or legal. In case after case, Americans (not foreigners or terrorists but Americans) who were spied upon, have won in court.

The Bush administration"s push for retroactive immunity is only to protect themselves. They are afraid if deals are struck, the telecom companies could say they were forced to spy without warrants and the Bush administration could face charges themselves.

Clinton pushes for a Clinton/Obama ticket

3-10-2008
Today, Hillary Clinton is pushing for a Clinton/Obama ticket with Obama as her VP.

Unfortunately for logic... Obama has won 29 of 41 primaries and caucuses.. Clinton has only won 14. Obama has won 25 States, Clinton would have to win every remaining state, and there would have to be a contest there, just to tie him. Obama has more popular votes and leads Clinton by over 500,000 votes.

Obama has the lead in Delegates. Obama won the most recent contest in Wyoming and had won 12 in a row before Clinton won three or possibly two because... although Clinton narrowly won the Texas primary portion... Obama is leading in the Texas Caucus, with 41% reporting, 56% to 44%. If that margin holds then Obama will win the majority of Delegates in Texas too.

Clinton would have to win all the remaining contests by 20% in order to catch Obama"s delegate lead.

Yeah, I guess he should give up and become Clinton"s running mate, of course that previous sentence was laced with sarcasm.

"The radical Islamists, the al-Qaida ... would be dancing in the streets

"(Obama will) certainly be viewed as a savior for them...That's why

Bush states the economy is in a "slowdown" refuses to say "Recession"

When economists state, for example, that we need to create 250,000 new jobs this quarter and instead we only create 180,000... that means we lost jobs. This has occurred consistently under the Bush administration however, all President Bush says is "our economy is growing, we added 180,000 new jobs last quarter". They say "180,000 new jobs" because it"s a big number but leave out the fact that we needed to create 250,000 new jobs just to break even... they are tricking you by not telling you the whole truth.

However, with the recent announcement of the US Economy loosing 63,000 jobs, the Administration can no longer use a high number to mislead so, Bush simply does not mention it.

The trickery is not limited to job creation of course... when they tell you unemployment is low at 4.8% but back in the 70"s, under Carter, it was 9% it tricks you into thinking things were worse then. But, what they don"t tell you is, under Carter if you were unemployed you were counted as being unemployed but under Bush, they don"t" count you if you can"t find a job... they call you a "discouraged worker" and don"t count you. They also count you as being employed if you only worked one hour last week. They don"t look at underemployment at all anymore, they used to say if you no longer have a full time job you"re underemployed, if you report that your new job is half the pay of your old job you were underemployed, this Administration won"t even look at that fact. Actual unemployment in this country is estimated at 12%.

Any Economist will tell you a resection is two consecutive down quarters in the Gross Domestic Product. Last quarter we only saw growth at 0.6%, not 6% it was at 0.6% and this quarter will be negative according to the Bush administration. Add in the largest number of foreclosures in 23 years, 57% increase in foreclosures compared to last year, the dollar at an all time low compared to the Euro (1.5x), oil at an all time high ($104.00 per barrel), etc... the US economy is in shambles.

Howard Dean proposes do-over's in Florida & Michigan

With all due respect to Ms. Ferraro and Senator Clinton, if Obama had won Florida and Michigan and he was calling for those delegates to be seated, both Ferraro and Clinton would be screaming bloody murder and pointing out every reason those delegates should not be seated.

In the end at the Manual for Democracy.com we've said from the beginning that the rules should not be changed mid-stream. We cannot seat delegates from an election in which neither party campaigned, where both agreed the delegates would not be seated and seriously, Obama wasn"t even on the ticket in Michigan.

How many people stayed home in those states because they knew the votes wouldn"t actually count? The only palatable solution has been floated by Governor Dean, to re-do the elections in both states. That makes the most sense and seems the most fair.

Ralph Nader announces another Presidential run

Although I am solidly in Obama"s court, I do think that a great deal of what
Nader has to say is vitally important and should not be dismissed. Nader would do far better speaking his mind publically instead of trying again to run for President
... which only makes him appear foolish.

His issues, being against corporate influence in government, against secret contracts and secret White House meetings, against pharmaceutical ingredients that are imported from foreign countries, increasing mine safety, addressing hazards in the workplace which amounted to 58,000 deaths last year, against predatory lending practices, increasing help to the poor, etc... his issues are important and intelligent. Nader"s consumer advocacy is inline with most American"s viewpoints.

He"d do better to stay out of the race and try for a cabinet level position where he could truly make a difference.

Keith Olbermann Timeline: How The Bush Administration Exploited Terror Threats For Political Gain, 2002-2008

Over at MSNBC, Keith Olbermann has updated his eye opening Terror Threats time line to include the most recent Bush Administration announcement.

Keith has been called fevering thing from unpatriotic to claims of supporting the terrorists. Today over at the Huffington Post, one member wrote "Olbermann is a f*cking traitor" , I asked him... did you know that during the Nuremberg trials of the Nazi"s they were asked, how do you brainwash an entire Nation to war? The response was... simple, just tell the nation they"re about to be attacked and condemn the pacifists as unpatriotic.

The Neo Cons have used the "questioning of patriotism" against anyone and everyone who dares speak out against Bush. You label Keith Olbermann as a "traitor" because, as he speaks the truth to power.

Far too many on the right wing wave the flag and carry a Bible but forget what the flage represents and what the teachings of the Bible are. Freedom of speech is a given but, freedom to tell the truth, freedom to speak the truth to power is under asult by those on the right. Sadly the concept of not allowing decent and labeling all who question this administration as unpatriotic or traitors is actually un-American. Of course, lying is against the teachings of the Bible but when we dare expose the lies of the Administration, those on the right suddenly and blindly stand with the President. I belive this is becuase George W Bush says that his favorite phlosepher is Jesus and in their eyes Bush can do no wrong.

However, as I have said in the past... George W Bush may say Jesus but he doesn't do Jesus.

The Obama "Yes We Can" Movement

Some have questioned if Obama's movement is a movement at all. The Republicans may not have a movement; John McCain is just a status quo candidate, just the guy they are picking to keep the policies of the Bush administration going.

But the Democrats do have a movement
... the movement is We the People moving to overcome the tyranny of this 2% aristocracy in the country that is running everything... the movement is We the People demanding Healthcare for everyone, not just those with a good job... the movement is We the People sick of our jobs being outsourced to Communist China... the movement is We the People sick of CEOs padding their wallets by eliminating American Manufacturing jobs the movement is away from the politics of fear... this is a movement, a movement for change.

John McCain Gets Implicit Support From Bush

McCain does not have an illegitimate black child... he adopted the baby. He also did not work with the enemy as a prisoner in Vietnam. He"s also not a liberal however, is his no longer a mavrick either. What he is... is a tool of the large corporations, including the military corporations, and a person who wants to keep the Iraq war going for, as he said, another 100 years.

If President Bush announces support for McCain and campaigns with him, that only makes it so much easier to tie him to the policies of George W Bush. A vote for McCain is a vote to continue the reign of Bush. Support of McCain will seal the election of Clinton or Obama nation wide. Bush has said himself that he would be a "strong asset" for any Republican nominee, Bush truly is in a bubble and thinks he"s popular, he really, truly does.

Let Bush support McCain continuously... that only helps the Democrats and insures an end to the occupation in Iraq (please note: we already won the war, when that statue of Saddam came down... we won the war, it"s the Republican Party"s occupation of Iraq that has failed) and McCain will fail if he"s supported by Bush

The Manual for Democracy Officially Supports
Barack Obama

I cast my vote today for Barack Obama in the race for the Democratic Nomination for President.

I did so because I feel Obama is far more representative of the change American needs. The feeling of the Obama movement is virtually palpable, it is inspiring and seems to be most inline with my viewpoints and the viewpoints of John Edwards.

Although both Obama and Clinton are are a stark contrast to any of the Republican front runners... the contrast between them is not all that drastic, in fact, nuances aside, their standpoints are extraordinarily similar.

What made my choice clear was, who could better take our country in a new direction, who represents change the most, who was against the Iraq War from the start, who is most likely to roll back the Bush tax breaks that were bestowed upon the Super Rich, and which candidate would most likely defeat any of the Republican front runners come November, for me the answer was Obama.

Although I did vote for Hillary Clinton for Senator in my home state of New York and short of some catastrophic scandal she'll have my vote next time around as well, I do feel Obama would be the better choice for President this year.

O'Reilly, John Edwards, and homeless Vets

Bill O'Reilly is World-Renowned for stating someone has an invite to his show but, he doesn't actually invite anyone... just says he does. John Edwards would wipe the floor with O'Reilly, not only because of his debating skills but, because the truth is on Edward's side.

O'Reilly has backtracked over the past few days because according to the US Department of Veterans Affairs there are "195,000 vets homeless at any given time". Edwards is 100% correct, Bill is 100% wrong. Bill Clinton said "I like that about the Republicans; the evidence does not faze them, they are not bothered at all by the facts" I'm sure most who get their news from FoxNews won't care either... ah, those pesky facts!

To all those out there who keep saying John Edwards cant prove his numbers, well.. here you go, since you worship Bush and believe everything this Administration tells you... here"s the page on the official United States Department of Veterans Affairs web site, not Huffingtonpost, not Dailykos, not us here at the Manual for Democracy.com but right from the Bush Administration's lips to your ears... there were 250,000 homeless vets five years ago, today there are still 195,000 Vets are homeless

White House Mortgage Meltdown:

Bush Gives Out Wrong Hotline Number but the real issue is that the Mortgage Freeze announced by Bush does little to actually freeze mortgages.

Firstly, Mortgage Freeze is only for those homeowners who are not behind on their payments, those that are behind (and need the freeze most) do not qualify.

Also, if your mortgage rate has not yet reset, you cannot freeze the lower rate.

Furthermore, the lender is the one who makes the decision as to whether or not you get the freeze at all. The lender will make a personal choice base on if they feel that you cannot pay back the mortgage if they raise your rates.

The "Devils in the Details" folks, only 12% of those with Adjustable Rate mortgages will qualify. Bush gave out the wrong number so you concentrate on that issue and forget that 88% of those with Adjustable Rate mortgages will NOT qualify.

Edwards surges in Iowa, now tied with Clinton and Obama

What John Edwards should do next...

Obama took the lead in Iowa after calling Clinton on her “Trillion Dollar Tax increase”, which of course only affects the very wealthy top 6% of income earners in the US.

John Edward's should stress this in the next debate and on the campaign trail but take it a giant leap further. Start stressing the CEO's making 364x more than the average employee, and how that money was accumulated… not by higher profits but by closing American Factories, cutting the salary’s of working families, by breaking the backs of labor unions, and by outsourcing out jobs to Communist China… who by the way is poisoning our children with lead painted toys!

Outsourcing our jobs to Communist China is not an American value!

John Edwards can wave the flag and keep stressing to put an end to outsourcing our jobs, cutting CEO pay back to 50x, which is where it used to be, so that we can re-open American Factories, and by making the millionaires pay their fair share of taxes and Social Security.

We at the Manual for Democracy have been stressing those points for years and they could easily push John Edwards to #1 in Iowa.

Al Gore wins the Nobel Peace Prize

We at the Manual for Demcoracy.com would like to extend our congratulations to Al Gore for winning the Noble Peace Prize for his work to fight Global Warming.

His film, An Inconvient Truth, exposes not only the fact for Global Warming but also exposes those who are trying to deny it's existence. In all honesty, there is no Conspiracy theory at play to deny the earth is getting warmer and human pollution is to blame what is at play is simply... collusion.

Collusion between large corporations who do not want to spend millions of dollars on antipollution measures and those Neo Cons in the Republican party who get their financing from those same large corporations.

It has been infuriating to watch so called 'scientists', most with links to large oil & energy companies... a fact often omitted during news segments, expressing confusion or disbelief that Global Warming even exists. At the very least, theses propagandists are able to 'muddy up the argument' and introduce doubt in the minds of many.

It is a refreshing to see a mans hard fought work come to, not only fruition, but all the way to a Nobel Prize, congratulations Al Gore.

Bush vetoes expansion of child healthcare for the poor

Without trumpets blaring and without any cameras present, George Bush meekishly hid away in the dark recesses of the White House and did exactly what the Insurance Industry and Big Tobacco told him to do… veto the expansion of child healthcare for the poor.

The Democratic plan was to increase the tax on cigarettes by 39 cents per pack and that revenue would help save the lives and increase the health and wellbeing of children. The only problem was… it would have helped poor children; and George Bush and his fellow Neo-Cons in the Republican Party would never bend a knee to help a poor child.

There was also the very real possibility that families, just above the poverty line, currently struggling to pay for their health insurance premiums, those poor families scraping together loose change to make their co-payments might have chosen the new expanded Government plan and left their Insurance Company… and the Insurance Industry would never stand for that.

Although many Republicans supported the bill, at nearly a 2-1 margin, 15 Republicans in the House of Representatives would need to change their vote so that Bush’s veto could be overridden. House Minority Whip Roy Blunt, R-Mo., proclaimed he was "absolutely confident" he could prevent that from happening.

Over in the Senate, in an attempt to protect the Insurance Industry, Senate Minority Whip Trent Lott, R-Miss., stated "We should not allow it to be expanded to higher and higher income levels, and to adults” … the last thing Senator Lott would want is to see poor families not paying their huge premiums to the Insurance Industry. Lott then quickly added “This is about poor children"… apparently the Senator believes that those without health insurance, who are just above the poverty line, do not deserve even half the healthcare that he and his family receives.

Senator Edward Kennedy, D-Mass. argued "I think that this is probably the most inexplicable veto in the history of the country. It is incomprehensible, it is intolerable, it's unacceptable," as he also implored Republicans to change their vote so that Bush's veto could be overridden.

Back in the House, Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Md., said that he and several Democrats were pleading with 15 Republicans to change their vote, to help the poor, and to do the right thing so that Bush’s veto could be overridden.

10-2 Rush Limbaugh is not a “Big Fat Idiot”

Rush Limbaugh is not a “Big Fat Idiot” ... as the soon to be Senator Al Franken said… instead Rush Limbaugh is a Pussy-Bitch Coward, too afraid to serve in the armed forces and too scared to face those heroes and war veterans who actually fight and die for our great nation.

He would never dare lock eyes with real combat soldiers and insult them face to face, he’d much rather ‘carry the water’ for the Neo-Cons and flap his unpatriotic gums in support for the Bush Administration’s occupation of Iraq; never questioning why Bin Laden is protected in the Northern regions of Pakistan or why Blackwater, KBR, and Halliburton are allowed to rape millions from our servicemen and women.

Rush Limbaugh would rather hide behind the security of his radio show and disparage war heroes and veterans for having the audacity to exercise their first Amendment rights, to exercise the very rights they fight and die for. He would rather ride off in his golf cart sucking on a cigar while true heroes fight and die.

Rush Limbaugh is a weak ‘Hillbilly Heroin’ abusing drug addict who cannot understand or separate the truth from Neo-Con rhetoric. Rush Limbaugh is a Pussy-Bitch Coward to afraid to look a serviceman in the eye, too scared to fight; he is without valor, without courage, and without honor.

Judge rules part of Patriot Act unconstitutional

President Bush’s Speech 9-13-07

President Bush’s speech last night was chock full of regurgitated talking points even if once powerful words like “victory” have been reduced to a more mediocre and ill-defined muttering such as “success”. No longer are the phrases uttered like “when the Iraqis stand up, we’ll stand down” but the sentiment is the same… we are never leaving Iraq. The irreplaceable “we have fight the terrorists there so we don’t have to fight them here” was not mentioned nor was the equally nauseating echo of “stay the course” stated but the President’s intentions have not changed… we are never leaving Iraq.

The much talked about “drawn down” of troops is a blatant spin of a simple fact, a fact explained eloquently by Senator Susan Collins (R), “10 months from now we will have the same number of troops we had 10 months ago”.

The polls all show an utter disgust for this war, or more specifically, this occupation because as I have mentioned in the past… we already won the war, when that statue of Saddam came down… we won the war… it is the Bush Administration’s occupation of Iraq that has failed. No one should blame the troops or the Generals on the ground… they achieved victory… it is Bush, and the policies of the Neo Cons in the Republican Party’s occupation of Iraq that has failed.

The only glimmer of hope is the Democratic majority’s ability to simply stop the occupation. I fully understand that those who want the occupation to continue will do everything in their power to demean and ridicule any pull out proposal. They will fire off three second talking points such as “Democrats want surrender dates” and “Democrats are week on defense”  however those Democrats are missing an immense point… the American people are on their side, the American people want an end to all this. If the Democrats do two things, they can do the one right thing and end this occupation.

First, begin serious investigations into propaganda, press manipulation and intimidation. Start exposing to the American people that Saddam was not linked to Al Qaeda, drag Jeff Gannon and expose him as a White House Press Core plant, and start investigations into War Profiteering. Go after Halliburton, go after KBR, and go after all the Republican cronies who were given multimillion dollar contracts for services, such as protecting Civilian air travel when there wasn’t any civilian air travel. That action will chip away at the already pitiful 33% approval of the war.

Second, fully fund the withdrawal. Declare victory, declare repeatedly that we won the war when the statue of Saddam came down and declare that it is the Bush Administration’s occupation of Iraq that has failed. Then, fully fund the withdrawal. Specify that the money appropriated to Iraq is for the withdrawal.

This is necessary becuase, regardless of Public opinion, regardless of military experts, behind all the spin and all the talking points is a blunt truth, and this President said it as ‘plain-as-day’ in an off the cuff remark when he said “I will not withdraw [from Iraq], even if Laura and [my dog] Barney are the only ones supporting me”…  if Bush has his way, we are never leaving Iraq.

The Economy is booming! As long as your not poor…

Once again the Bush Administration is beating the drums of success and touting, what they refer to as, the strong economy, low unemployment, high Dow Jones industrial average, and overall economic growth.

The simple truth is… the economy is great… provided your one of the upper rich 2% of American’s making over one million dollars a year… in other words… as long as you’re not poor, lower middle class, or middle class.

A further truth is as we watch our jobs outsourced to cheap foreign labor true unemployment is actually up. This particular fact confuses most because they are not told the whole truth. What they hear is… unemployment is low, and unemployment is lower now than in the 1970s. But, it’s what you’re not told that is paramount… as a wise man once said… the ‘Devil is in the Details’. This administration only counts you as unemployed for the one year you collect unemployment benefits… then, they no longer count you when your benefits run out. Back in the 1970’s, under Jimmy Carter, if you were unemployed, you were counted… period. This was a tactic and first adopted by Ronald Regan’s Administration in order to artificially lower unemployment numbers. Obviously, if once your benefits run out, the Government no longer counts you, well… sure the numbers are lower. Bill Clinton’s administration did little to change this policy however; he also oversaw the strongest economic upturn in the history of the United States so… it did not matter all too much.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average is up however; the stocks that make up the Dow were changed, all those that were underperforming were eliminated and new higher performing stocks were added. In all honesty, it’s happened before however; the Bush Administration really should compare ‘Apples to Apples’ and not remove stocks, add new ones, and then claim the average is up!

Also, those that benefit most from the higher Dow are those with higher incomes holding 50,000 shares of a stock or more. When that stock goes up 50 cents, they can sell it off and make $25,000. But, for the average stock investor, who as maybe 50 shares of that same stock, they would only see $25 if they sold, of course it’s actually $15.01 after they pay the lowest commission of $9.99.  The vast majority of Americans do not have any stock so, the Dow Jones Industrial Average has little to no impact on them… unless of course they are downsized, fired, or watch their job head off to Communist China…. Then their companies stock goes up!

Lastly, as far as overall growth, most of it is from the housing market, which is starting to slow down.  Back on August 16th, the National Association of Realtors stated that quarterly sales of existing homes dropped by 10.8%, with declines in 41 of America's 50 states. We’ve written on this in the past, just like in the 1980s, the housing prices are now well above the average income of the major cities… in other words, these lendees cannot actually afford to pay back what they have borrowed, those ‘interest only loans’ are going to bit many people hard, houses cost more than they should now so watch for them to continue to flatten out and then decline. This is nothing new though, the identical thing happened in the 1980s, house exploded in price, and then the bubble burst, foreclosures went up, prices came down, and sellers were taking losses. The only difference this time around is… these interest only loans are going to mean more unemployment and more defaults. Even the Fed’s recent influx of 7 billion dollars into the US banking system could not stop the rumors that America's biggest mortgage brokerage could go bankrupt.

If you just put blinders on and ignore that we have the largest Trade Deficit in our history; the numbers of people actually unemployed is terrible, the further number of those under-employed is even worse, combine that with the loss of American Jobs to cheap foreign labor, the closing of American factories, the lack of Healthcare, declining benefits, and the over priced home market… just ignore all that, and I guess, the economy is booming.

The youth of America are waking up and supporting the Democrats

It is not surprising that a new poll conducted by Democracy Corps/Greenberg Quinlan Rosner, shows most young American’s with utter contempt for the Neo-Cons that once controlled the agenda of the Republican Party in Congress. This is promising news for the Democrats who regained control of the House and Senate this past November and is looking toward increasing that lead in the next election cycle.

The major point of the survey states "Young people react with hostility to the Republicans on almost every measure and Republicans and younger voters disagree on almost every major issue of the day."

The youth of our country seems to be less jaded and more likely to actually listen to the truth… not just the propaganda. They see a future less bright for themselves, with less opportunity in American Factories, less technical jobs available, they see their parents with less Healthcare and they see their families struggling to just get by.  They plainly see the Neo-Cons of the Republican party for what they are, hypocrites. The Neo-Cons are the ‘do nothing congress’ and they have become the party of ‘do as I say not as I do’.

If there’s one thing the youth of American cannot stomach… it’s a hypocrite!

Bush Vetoes Stem Cell Research again

In an attempt to pander to the base, in the most cynical way, President Bush once again has vetoed Stem Cell Research.

Bush stated "Destroying human life in the hopes of saving human life is not ethical, and it is not the only option before us." However, he is ignoring a fundamental fact that the cells in these Petri dishes are often simply thrown in the garbage and discarded. They are created by couples trying to get pregnant, sometimes 5 to 10 attempts are prepared but, once the women is successfully impregnated, perhaps several other Petri dishes of cells are then discarded.

If Bush truly cared about the cells in the Petri dish, then why not announce an Executive Order banning the disposal of the Petri dishes? Why not an Executive Order instructing Firefighters to reenter a burning building and save those dishes? Why not an Executive Order demanding funerals for those cells that die in the Petri dish after several years of storage? Why not, because George Bush does not actually care at all, he is just hoping to ‘sure up the base’ or what's left of it.

George Bush does not actually care but, there are some who do.

So for them, I wrote the following proposal back in July of last year… Approaching my solution from a Centrist/Libertarian view, I first see an Authoritarian Administration compelled to insert itself into the personal lives of ‘We the People’ at every turn. Matched with a Scientific & Medical community wishing to take embryos, which would otherwise be discarded, and experiment on those cells with the hope of eradicating a plethora of diseases. However, those stem cells, unintentionally floating in a Petri dish, are no more the property of the Doctors & Scientists eagerly seeking research, than they are the property of those eagerly seeking to preserve them.

I would reaffirm the mantra that a "Government that governs least governs best" and that the rightful owners, some might even say ‘parents’, of those stem cells should be the only ones with the right to make a decision concerning their fate. Those couples, whom in their efforts to get pregnant initially created the embryos, should either make the choice to donate the unwanted stem cells for research, have them preserved, or simply allow them to be disposed of . Both those politicians droolfuly seeking re-election and the medical community, along with those carrying slogans emblazoned across their picket signs, should simply step back from a debate in which they do not belong. The only involvement of Congress should simply be to pass the funding for Stem Cell Research and the President should sign it into law. Then the rightful owners of the Stem Cells will determine which Petri dishes will be utilized in research and which shall not.

First IBM sells to Communist China and now say goodbye to 100,000 more Big Blue jobs?

Just 10 years ago it would have been unthinkable… IBM would sell all it’s manufacturing to Communist China… impossible; but it has happened. Now the new Lenovo Division of IBM (located in Communist China) while still salivating and enjoying higher profits from its recent firing of 1,300 American jobs is now swimming in a puddle of their own phlegm over the possibility of canning 100,000 to 150,000 additional American jobs.

If this had occurred under the Clinton Administration, the Republican’s in Congress would have been screaming bloody murder from the rooftops! They would have enacted emergency legislation blocking the sale, true Republicans, like Barry Goldwater, would have personally strangled the CEO of IBM for even thinking about sending Big Blue to Communist China but; the Neo Con’s of today’s Republican Party are silent. They are silent because they no longer hold true to any American Values or the American working family… they hold true only to the CEO and the Board of Directors. They take their marching orders, not from the American Public, but from the lobbyist of the major corporations. Big Blue is in the hands of the Communists for one reason… because the Neo Con’s of the Republican Party have turned us into a country of the Corporation, by the Corporation, and for the Corporation.

If Vermont can vote to Impeach Bush and Cheney, why can’t we?

With all due respect to Nancy Pelosi’s position that “impeachment is off the table” if Vermont can vote to Impeach Bush and Cheney, why can’t we? If the Republicans could bring Articles of Impeachment against Bill Clinton for, well… let’s just put in bluntly… lying about a blowjob, then why can’t the US Congress even look into the possibility of Impeaching Bush and Cheney for lying about Weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq, lying about links between Saddam Hussein and Al Qaeda, propaganda, violating free speech, no bid contracts/war profiteering, wiretapping without warrants, the outing of a CIA undercover officer, and a host of other issues?

The Vermont Senate voted 16 to 9 to bring Articles of Impeachment against George Bush and Dick Cheney… why can’t the US Congress even start the process?

Iraq War drags American morale down

A new CNN/ Opinion Research Corp concludes that “Confidence in Iraq war down sharply” the poll reflects more accurate reporting on the war and an American Public feed up with the loss of American lives in a conflict with no apparent end.

Additionally the poll shows “61 percent of those polled now say it was not worth invading Iraq” which has to be staggering news to the Bush Administration and even worse news for major corporations such as Halliburton & Kellogg-Brown & Root who stands to loose billions of dollars if the US were to significantly reduce forces or pull out all together.

It is our conclusion that even the 33% that still support the war would be drastically less if it were not for Foxnews and ABC Talk Radio’s continued blind support for the Bush Administration’s policy in the Middle East and the misbelief that Iraq and Saddam Hussein were behind the attacks on September 11th.

Foxnews Subliminal Propaganda

During the live broadcast of the O’Reilly Factor, while Bill O’Reilly slammed congressman Foley for his sexually explicit emails, ethics violations, and possible criminal conduct... Foxnews mislabeled Foley as a Democrat.

Later, during the rebroadcast Foxnews removed the “D” for Democrat but did not replace it with an “R” for Republican . Foxnews chose instead to leave the screen blank.

This is without question the single most blatant example of Foxnews' ever expanding list of the intentional use of misinformation & propaganda.

These are the types of deceitful behaviors that Pravda used in the old Soviet Union, the types methods used to misinform today’s populations in China, North Korea, & Iran, the way that totalitarian governments, with State Controlled Media, attack political enemies and sadly, it’s being perpetrated on the American public.

NY Times Full Story concerning Rice's statements

NYT: Rice said, it was “incomprehensible” that she ignored dire terrorist threats two months before the Sept. 11 attacks. However, Officials now agree that on July 10, 2001, Mr. Tenet and his counterterrorism deputy, J. Cofer Black, were so alarmed about an impending Al Qaeda attack that they demanded an emergency meeting at the White House with Ms. Rice and her National Security Council staff.

Rice's quote: "What I am quite certain of is that I would remember if I was told, as this account apparently says, that there was about to be an attack in the United States, and the idea that I would somehow have ignored that I find incomprehensible... I don't know that this meeting took place, but what I really don't know, what I'm quite certain of, is that it was not a meeting in which I was told there was an impending attack and I refused to respond..."

Rice & the Post are wrong

Contrary to Condoleezza Rice’s statements in the NY Post Today, where she asserted "We were not left a comprehensive strategy to fight al-Qaida" from the Clinton Administration, calling Bill Clinton's comments "flatly false"... here is the actual photocopied memo presented by Richard Clarke to Ms. Rice.

This was given to Condoleezza Rice 5 days after the Bush Administration took power on January 25, 2001 & outlines a comprehensive plan to go after Al Qaeda, just as Bill Clinton said.

Furthermore, Ms. Rice stated "What we did in the eight months was at least as aggressive as what the Clinton administration did in the preceding years," however; according to the September 11 Commission Report, the above memo was not acted upon, there were only low level talks during the summer of 2001, and the Bush administration did not hold a meeting on Al Qaeda until September 4th; just 5 days before the 9-11 attacks.

Senate committee rejects Bush anti-terror plan
Powell said that Bush’s bill, by redefining the kind of treatment the Geneva Conventions allow, “would add to those doubts. Furthermore, it would put our own troops at risk.”

What President Bush's bill specifically requests:

It wants authorization for the CIA to hide detainees in overseas prisons where even the International Committee of the Red Cross won't have access.

It wants permission to interrogate those detainees with abusive practices that in the past have included induced hypothermia and "waterboarding," or simulated drowning.

It wants the right to try such detainees, and perhaps sentence them to death, on the basis of evidence that the defendants cannot see and that may have been extracted during those abusive interrogation sessions.
